It won't be much bigger than now, when you throw schools in that don't have a team or one that really doesn't care about it...you'll get bad results. Not enough funding, so poor guy will get thrown in as coach that has no idea what he's doing, then the team will do poorly..which won't help with the popularity.
Crutchfield Came in with NO experience. Not sure the exact number but he probably had around 10 guys win a state championship while he was a the helm. So come up with something else.
Looks like 130 in the LPD could be pretty good with a boy from PV #1 and Kelly #3
So he's the exception, not the rule. That may happen every now and then, it won't happen with every school, not most schools, maybe 1. So no, my point stands. This is coming from someone who went to a school that didn't have a wrestling team, so I could tell you, it'd be the exact same way I'm saying it would happen...those three sports would take priority, hell before Hank left, tennis would be bigger at Burton for that matter.
OK well here is to your point again. Pound has Crabtree as coach maybe not the most experience. But Pretty sure Mr Collins who helps Won state at Kelly back in the day he also coached a few really really good PV teams. Owens if he is at Kelly was a high school all American. The dean Guy who was at Kelly was a 2 time state champ. Owens may have left Appy but they still have Crutchfield down there. P.V, Coeburn both already have plenty of history and experience. Your point is horrible and Didnt stand to long.
You're naming Kelly people, it's taken serious a Kelly, they've been good at it. Plus it'd be about 2nd there, behind baseball. Because you keep going on about coaches at a school that has a good wrestling team, doesn't debunk anything I said about schools like Burton or this area for that matter. It's probably like that at Grundy too, but is it going to translate to every other school? Nope. Though I think schools like Burton should have a wrestling team, gives something for the kids to do that are interested, I don't think for a second that it'll be that much more popular here.
Owens and Dean weren't Kelly People to begin with. Ah **** it your right None of the coaches have any experience. I'm sure you wrestle for money with old guys on the weekend in Johnson City and have some very INTIMATE knowledge of the sport. LPD wrestling sucks blah blah. Now that i agreed please shut the **** up and start you a tennis thread.
it kills you to not win an argument doesn't it R13? Someday you'll wake up and realize you don't know everything there is to know about every subject discussed on this forum. If people like wrestling at high school X, so be it. Football, Basketball or Baseball doesn't have to be the main sport at every school. The wrestling program at Grundy brings in more money than any other sport at that school. Most of the money is "donations", but their wrestling program is funded better than most school's football programs.
Lol keep talking like you actually know anything about me, shows how foolish you really are. Didn't play tennis, don't care about it, just used it to make a point. Not going to get into anymore in this thread with your dumbass, know you wrestled in HS, but it's not going to be huge in this area. That was the point I made, don't like it, don't read it.
These crushes some of you have on here for me are quite laughable. Give it a break, I posted my opinion on it, that it will always be behind those three sports..mainly the first two in this area. When they do, come talk about it, don't hold your breath though.
LOL I don't know about that boy sometimes. He's a lost ball in high weeds it seems. He tries to make a point saying it wont be the biggest sport so coaches wont take it serious. Gate City girls vollyball i think I would be safe in saying isnt the biggest sport at GC. But back to back state championships and titles in 04 and 05 seem to contradict his theory that small sports want be taken seriously by coaches.
